Butter London Abbey Rose Lippy Tinted Balm and Honey Pie & Naughty Biscuit Cheeky Cream Blush Review

Oh Butter London, how I LOVE your nail lacquers! But your makeup? I'm definitely NOT feeling the same kind of love. I'm so disappointed. Gorgeous and sophisticated packaging! Cute product names! But the formulas. Sigh. Let's begin.

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

Butter London Abbey Rose Lippy Tinted Balm - Not Sweet
It looks like a lipstick. It's packaged like a lipstick. It has color payoff like a lipstick. But it feels like a lip balm. And not a very good one. This tinted balm feels waxy, heavy and artificial on the lips. Abbey Rose is a beautiful shade that looks great (compliments most skin tones), but for me it didn't FEEL great. You can do better.

Butter London Naughty Biscuit & Honey Pie Cheeky Cream Blushes - Not Sweet
There are several problems with these cream blushes. First, pigmentation. There's very little (if any) color payoff. You can apply all you want and the color never builds, which leads to the second problem. These blushes do not BLEND with your foundation makeup! You apply and they just sit atop your cheeks like wax. I blurred my photos on purpose so you could see where the blush stops under my eye. These cream blushes are waxy and when the sun hit your cheeks, you will GLOW (and not in a good way). Also, BOTH of these colors came off PINK on my cheeks. Honey Pie is not PINK. Naughty Biscuit is not PINK. So accuracy of color is the third issue. As Cher from Clueless would say, "From far away, it's okay, but up close it's a big old mess." HaHaHa To the makeup graveyard these blushes go (for me)! I'm trashing mine. That's how much I hate them. So glad I got these on sale. I can't recommend them. Have a great weekend :)

  2. I didn't know that Butter London has a makeup up line. Too bad it's not as good as the nail polishes...looks like they should've just stayed with nail stuff:P

    Have a great Friday, Kim:)

  3. But...but...but...the packaging was so pretty :'(
Haha, that always makes me feel so sad. If it's presented so prettily, the product should really reflect that. Ah well, seems like it's not the case for these products, which makes me glad for reviewers like you! :)

  4. Oh dear, what a nonsense!! Glad you got them on sale, but at the same time you still paid for nonsense...that's a shame!! I don't like lipsticks that feel like lip glosses as the colour doesn't apply right and moves all over your lips due to the greasiness!! Yuck!! Pretty packaging, but I will avoid these! Marvellous review doll :) xx

  5. How disappointing! I didn't know they did make up but I know the nail polish is popular. A shame that you didn't like the texture of the lip balm as the colour looks so pretty on you and it looks a perfect even finish too! Have a great weekend!

  7. Oh what a shame as the packaging and the shades you picked are so irresistible but definitely sound like something to avoid and a waste of money!:/ You know Kim, this hue of pink suits you so so much though, looking very cute!:) Have a great weekend you too, hugs! xo

  8. Oh such a shame the makeup is no good Kim, as I've heard people rave about the polishes. It's good you bought it on sale so you don't lose too much with them. I guess when you buy and try a large range of makeup, you're bound to come across a bad one or two! :(

  10. What a shame - although I have to say, I've always found Butter London's products to be overrated, particularly considering the crazy high price point.

  13. What a letdown Kim! The packaging is really cute and the colors do look pretty on you despite the formulation glitches.

  14. Oh gosh, I'm sorry these were such a disappointment! I had a tiny weeny sample of Butter London matte lipstick and I though it was okay so I have been looking forward to try their makeup range but will be skipping them for sure. Seems like they are trying to diversify their range but will definitely wait till they improvise on the formulas.

  16. That lippy is such a pretty color, but too bad the quality isn't as good as the color.

  17. I think that lipstick looks super pretty on you Kim! Too bad the formula isn't good and it's uncomfortable to wear. And too bad about the blush too, I can't do cream blushes so that would be a disaster for me! I've never tried any of butter London makeup but your not the first person I've heard from that it's not as good as their nail polish

  23. I'm sorry to hear you were so disappointed with these products.. I hadn't even realised that Butter London did makeup, I feel behind the times now haha! The packaging - as you've said - is really rather lovely, so it's a pity what lies within has proved to be a disappointment for you!!

  26. Man, that is disappointing. The lippy is nice and pink, and looks great, but, if it doesn't feel good, then not worth it.

    PS LOVED the Clueless reference!

  27. Too bad the rose tinted lip balm disappointed! It sure looks good on you, Kim. Oh, I bought me some NYX Wicked Lippies (2 of them) this weekend--post reading last week's review! :) T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  28. Hi Kim, I never knew they made makeup. How disappointing! I think when company are good in one product, they should just stick to it rather than venturing out.
