My Spring & Summer Wardrobe Refresh

I cleaned out my closet this past weekend. I really didn't have much of a choice, because temps were reaching 80 degrees, here in New Orleans. Birds are chirping, days are getting longer, and there is a surge of maxi skirts and designer prom dresses making their debut. I swear before blogging, it use to take me almost a week to clean my closet. Since blogging, I've learned to purge and pair down better. I can now go through it in 2 days. Incorporating more neutrals into my wardrobe, has helped. I can mix & match more of the same items. I've been shopping online over the past couple of weeks, to add some things to my wardrobe! I scored a pair of never worn J Crew sandals on eBay for $40. Target had a buy 1, get 1 50% off sale on sandals. I'm seeing lots of white in fashion this year, so I purchased these shorts & jeans from Talbots. I've always been a fan of eyelet during the hotter months, so I also purchased this eyelet skirt & navy striped tee after a cool sale at Gap. Since Aveeno sent me a luggage color Angela Roi bucket bag, I've been loving the color "luggage" (beige, brown, caramel etc.) lately. So this Fossil cross-body bag fell into my Nordstrom shopping cart! HaHaHa Not on sale! Eeek! And Zara had the cutest perforated clutch (also works as a cross body) and organic tees. Their prices are amazing! So this is my Spring/Summer wardrobe update refresh. As you can see, my style is classic, minimal and basic. HaHaHa These items will work with other things in my closet and kind of freshen things up. Do you shop at many different places? Or do you stick to a few favorite stores? I like to mix it up (high end, middle end & low end), catch sales and use Ebates to get cash back.

  2. I've been organizing my closet as well, I just need to coordinate it all, so I can easily find the pieces I need. But, it feels good to get rid of stuff you barely wear and look at it all nice and neat. I have some bags to take to the charities now, haha!! This is super...I like B&W as it's a great building block to adding other colours or just wearing on its own for a classic appeal. Super :) Happy day doll xx

  4. This is why I like when the season change we give away items we do not use to replace with new ones.

  8. Ahah, Kim, you had a huge splurge, well done! I wish I was as much good as you on cleaning my closet but still have to do and I know it will be sooo hard!:) I love everything you got, especially the Fossil bag and the JCrey cardi, I like that shade too, how chic is paired with white then? I need a striped item too and that Zara shirt seems perfect. Hugs! xo

  9. All those clothes look wonderful! I love the GAP skirt, the Fossil bag and all three pairs of Target sandals! I've been seeing so many pretty clothes lately, specially in Mango (my fave shop hehe)
But right now I'm very in between normal and maternity clothes and I'm trying to do with what I already have as long as possible! But I'm looking forward to the summer sales and hoping I will be able to fit some pretty regular clothes by then :)

Have a great day, Kim! xoxo

  13. I've been trying to not shop lately... haha. Though I must admit when I do I tend to stick to my tried and true staples - H&M and Free People, with pieces from Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters here and there. Oh, and I do have a few good Lucky pieces. I probably should branch out, but keeping my money where I know I'll be satisfied is so easy. Good on you for changing it up! BTW, love love love that striped top. I'm such a sucker for stripes!

  14. One of the most fun parts of spring is getting to refresh your wardrobe :) As you know, I'm a huge fan of neutrals as well, and over the past few years I've really pared my wardrobe down to black, white and grey. But this season I've been loving luggage colours as well so I'm looking to add a few of those into my wardrobe for the coming season.

  15. First of all, gurlllll you have an online shopping addiction! LMAO! And secondly, I hate (love) you and wish I can shop as much as you. LOL!!!

Jokes aside, I have never been huge in fashion, never was really interested in buying clothes. Strange eh? I have been fairly lucky as my size has never really changed, am the same weight since my teen, actually slightly smaller so my jeans still pretty much fit after 6-7 years, my tops has always been simple and neutral so I still wear them.

I know I should put more effort and follow some trends but it's such a cumbersome thing for me to do. LOL!

  16. 80 degrees! Wow Kim, it's hot by you! I love the Zara striped tee. I cleaned out my closet earlier this year and have vowed to shop within it as opposed to buying new things and I 'm discovering many pieces I'd forgotten about.

  17. Now that you mention it maybe that's the reason I fall in a rut… there is no season change… the same clothes all year long.
I think the pieces you picked would suit my closet too. I am specially fond of the sandals and white bottoms.

  18. I love all that stuff you picked out, especially that cute little fossil purse!! Fossil is my favorite! I really need to clean out my closet too but I'm so lazy Kim lol!

  21. Great pieces here! I like simple classics too. It is so much easier to mix and match. Quality is very important. It is a bonus that the pieces don't go out of style! I really need to clean my closet again since I started working from home last spring and don't need so much any more.

  22. Really nice additions, Kim! Lots of classics and beautiful colour combinations! I've been doing a bit of shopping, too, but also part of it was going through everything I've got already and finding new ways to wear it. :) I did buy a special dress, though - have been looking for it for years and it just popped up! Couldn't resit. :)

I used to shop at different stores, but now I try to stick to a few favorites. It helps with keeping my closet to a minimum, lol!

  35. That cardigan is my favourite piece - too cute! :)

I've been trying really hard to reduce the size of my wardrobe and thinking more about what I buy - like you I'm finding I'm sticking to neutral things when I buy now, trying to get pieces that will all work together in my wardrobe. Plus I've got a professional coming around to help me do a wardrobe detox, ha! I'll let you know how that goes!
