Pixi by Petra Sheer Cheek Gel - Bittersweet

Sheer Beauty was the theme of the Pixi box I received. I think we can all agree, during warmer months we want our makeup to look fresh, light and minimal. Pixi's Sheer Cheek Gel ($14) is a sheer gel blush (in a tube) that is suppose to create "a natural looking and long lasting cheek flush to brighten & beautify" the complexion. This cheek gel comes in 3 shades: Natural, Rosy and Flushed. I was sent two Naturals, so I only tried that shade (because I wanted to save the others for a giveaway for you guys). This cheek gel has received some excellent reviews on Pixi's website, but I didn't have such luck. When I applied my primer, foundation & concealer, I then applied Pixi's cheek gel. As I worked it in, it caused my other makeup to rub completely off (both cheeks). I've never experienced anything like that before. I tried it on my bare skin and it did a little better. I would dab, instead of rubbing this product in. I'm wearing natural below on my cheeks. As you can see, there is not much color. It just seems washed away on my skin. So I wouldn't recommend the Natural shade for anyone that is my skin color or darker. I bet Flushed would look better, but I don't want to open it (giveaway) and take the risk. Realize these are very sheer in color.

Pixi by Petra Gel Tint & Silk Gloss - Bittersweet

Pixi's Gel Tint & Silk Glosses ($12) are NEW! These are dual-ended. One end is a lip stain/tint. The other end is a lip gloss. You can layer them or wear them alone. The formula for these are really good. They're creamy, provide just the right amount of color and look great on the lips. They come in 3 shades: Berry Tint & Sweet Gloss, Pink Tint & Pretty Gloss and Beach Tint & Fresh Gloss. I'm wearing Berry Tint & Sweet Gloss below. I don't have a problem with the formula, but I do have a problem with the applicator. It's like a flat non-bending spatula! I don't understand this! It's ok for applying the product to the bottom lip, but when you go to apply to your top lip it's like applying it with a stick. It pokes your lip and it's hard to apply. It makes no sense to me. I would've given these a sweet rating, but the applicator is so challenging, I downgraded the product. Otherwise the packaging is beautiful.

  1. I own Flushed, it is beautiful, but as you said very sheer. Not a problem on my skin, but probably too sheer for your complexion as well. And I never had any issues with it rubbing off, thats weird.

  3. That's too bad about the applicator for the gloss coz those shades do look fab, Kim! The Berry looks great on you, a shade you can wear any season. :)
    Have a great weekend!

  4. I never quite understood the idea of a cheek gel. Powder is the only way that makes sense to me. :) That is too bad about the lip gloss. It really does look pretty on you.

  5. When I was a teenager and didn't wear foundation, I loved cheek gel. But as soon as I upgraded my beauty routine to something a bit more sophisticated, including powder and foundation, I found that cheek gel didn't work the way it used to for me. It's unfortunate, but the reality is, some products aren't for everyone and what doesn't work for us could work for others whose routine is different.

  7. The lip color is super pretty on you Kim! That's a shame about the applicator. And also a shame that the cheek products remove the rest of your makeup when applied on top!

  13. Such a shame that these didn't work for you Kim - that is a very odd applicator for the gloss, I wonder why they did that?

It was nice of you not to try the other colours and leave them for your giveaway too! Thank you so much for sharing :)

Hope you are having a lovely weekend :)

  16. The Gel Tint & Silk Gloss sounds like it could be a real winner if it wasn't for the applicator. So odd that they would include a spatula for use on the lips. A doe foot applicator would've made much more sense. They colors look real pretty. Thanks for your honest opinions and another fun giveaway Kim!
