Too Faced Born This Way Concealer Review & Swatches

When Too Faced came out with their Born This Way Foundation several years ago, I was a little skeptical. You know how gimmicky Too Faced can get! HaHaHa But it REALLY is an EXCELLENT foundation! My fellow blog buddy Desle of Diva Desle blog purchased it and told me how much she loved it. I use it everyday! I'm almost out of it (Warm Beige) and want to try Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation next. Too Faced's Born This Way Foundation is just a great everyday, any day foundation. They also came out with the setting powder this year. When Too Faced came out with their Born This Way Concealer ($28), I had to try it. I purchased it in Medium and you guys, I kept using it and using it until what you see in the pictures below (yep, scraping the edges) LOL I almost didn't have enough to do this review. I talked about Tarte Shape Tape yesterday and how much I love it. If the Tarte Shape is too much coverage for you, then you will love TF Born This Way. It gives excellent coverage, but you will still be able to see birthmarks, freckles while hiding those under-eyes. Two bloggers brought up very good points yesterday! I forgot to mention I didn't experience any creasing with the Shape Tape, but it does have a floral scent (I wish they would leave that out). The Too Faced concealer just has a makeup scent. I experienced very little creasing with this concealer. I used setting powder atop it (under my eye area), which helped alleviate that issue. I have dry skin, and what I like about this concealer is that it's infused with coconut oil (to replenish the skin's moisture levels), alpine rose (to brighten and boost radiance) and hyaluronic acid (to give the skin a smoother, more youthful appearance). So it worked out really nicely for me. Both the foundation and concealer oxidizes (changes/darkens), so swatch it in store and walk around a few minutes to see how the color truly shows up against your skin-tone. If you look at my hand swatch below, notice how yellow it is. Then look at the next picture of my hand blended it out. It matches my skin tone. I put another swatch atop it, so yeah give it some time. Coverage is great! Below is my BEFORE shot and then me wearing ONLY the Too Faced Concealer (Smashbox primer water and original photofinish primer). NO FOUNDATION is on my face! Only this concealer. Its to show you how the concealer covers. Have you tried Too Faced's Foundation or Concealer?

  4. It gives you such good coverage! I'm impressed you liked this one even more as the review of the Tarte one was so good - this sounds even better!

I'd definitely be put off with the yellow ton, so it's nice to know that it doesn't stay that way, and I'm sure will help more people not to dismiss it too early!

The hydration products sound awesome! Extra hydration is always needed in winter for my skin!

Hope you are having a nice start to the week!

  5. Wow! Two great concealers in a row, Kim...yay!:) I have yet to try the Born This Way line from TF, and it does sound like I'm missing out. For some reason, the samples in the Sephora by me always look so yucky which really turn me off, but I think I should just bite the bullet!

  6. I'm amazed that this concealer can double as a foundation, I have to say. Does that mean I'll give up my beloved foundation? Probably not. But I'm still impressed :) I think you will love Armani's Luminous Silk, Kim. Estee Lauder's formulas are still my favourite but I used Luminous Silk at my wedding and it was beautiful.

  7. I like Armani Power Fabric (have done a review if you're interested), I think you'll love it if you're after a luminous Matte and your skin isn't dry. Now re Too Faced, I haven't tried the foundation nor the concealer, but sounds like I should :). I love an olive tone/ yellow concealer anyway. You really don't need foundation, you look great just with the concealer!

  12. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! I think I would like this concealer.I need the heavier coverage for my dark circles from the Shape Tape but this would be fine for the rest of my face.

  14. This is another concealer that's been on my list to try for a while! It looks nice on you skin, Kim! It still has good coverage even though it's not a full coverage as the shape tape. I'll keep this one in mine too if i decided to get a new concealer from Sephora or Ulta!

  15. If this works for your dry skin, then it would probably work for me as well. I'm glad you mentioned that it doesn't crease Kim. That's my number one issue when I'm looking for a concealer.
