Sound Oasis World's Smallest White Noise Machine

Sponsored: Did any of you guys have one of those white noise machines that came out years ago? I did! LOL I loved mine. It was bulky, but I would bring it in the bathroom (away from the tub), soak in the tub and chill out. I remember liking the soft rain selection best. I've always been a fan of anything that brings tranquility and relaxation. So I was excited when PR asked if I would like to try Sound Oasis World's Smallest White Noise Machine ($49.99). It's compact. It can clip to your clothes. It has earphones (you can use your own ear phones). You recharge it by USB cable (25 hours of run time per charge). Excellent volume control. Use it on a plane. Use it while sitting at your desk. Use it while gardening. Honestly, the uses are endless. It comes in a cute hard zippered travel case and this white noise machine offers 10 different tones of white noise (continuous sound, no loops). The issue I have is ALL the white noise is RAIN (and they're hard to differentiate)! It seems to be split into hard rain and soft rain, with just various degrees of intensity/volume. I only picked up maybe 4-5 distinct tones. A lot of the tones sounded similar to my ears (and I have excellent hearing). The second issue I have are the ear phones. They're round (bulky) and don't fit great in the ears. They kept popping out. I ended up using my iPhone ear phones. They were a lot more comfortable. If this was $19.99 then maybe, but to pay $49.99 for only 4 distinct RAIN TONES. No waves. No crickets. No what other white noises are there? HaHaHa Just doesn't seem right. What are your thoughts? Do you relax to sounds/music etc.? I did do a Dreamy Apps post back in 2014, if you would like some ideas.

  2. Oh it's a shame it isn't more flexible with the sounds! We tried white noise machines when the boys were younger to see if it would help them get to sleep faster, worked kinda well for my first but the youngest hated it, haha! I've never really used them for anything else - would be good if you have a baby who likes that, being a handy travel size!

Hope you're having a lovely week so far. Another nice warm spring day here, although they say the rain will be back soon :(

  3. I agree with Mica...this does sound pretty handy for travel and would probably work wonders for babies:) I myself have never tried a white machine before. TBH, I just use the sound of the TV to help me sleep, and I actually wake up if I don't hear any voices:P Drives my husband crazy coz he's the opposite...it has to be super quiet!:P

  4. Too bad they didn't have alot of variation. I used a sound machine when my son was little and loved listening to it.

  5. We had white noise machines at my office for a while that worked very poorly - the idea was to camouflage the fact that we had very high ceilings that made noise travel, but in reality, the white noise just became another noise in an already very loud environment. So I don't tend to think of white noise in a very positive way, and on top of that, I really don't like the rain - so this probably isn't for me ;)

  6. I normally like noise machines when I'm sleeping somewhere where I know there will be noise or of course at my office at work but I've never thought about needed such a small one to carry around. So cool!

  7. I like how very conveniently small it is ! I have two of them, but mine just produce white noise. No rain sounds.

  9. I love the size of this one. I do sleep to a sound machine that has 2 modes, white noise and a fan. There are 5 different sound options in each mode so it is great for finding just the right noise to sleep to. The basic white noise I can't do though. That is noise that has made me uncomfortable since watching Poltergeist as a little girl and making me think of the static tv set. Do I have issues? yes! LOL

  10. I got into using white noise when I experienced terrible tinnitus when I was sick a few years ago. We use an iPhone app but having a machine is a good idea especially for travel. It's too bad this one didn't have more sounds Kim.

  11. This is a cool idea. I got a little hand held one for the baby to soothe her, but I think it works in a similar way X

  12. Oh it's too bad this wasn't comfortable and only had rain! My little, can't fall asleep easily, guy is listening to rain now via an app! I'd just stick with an app!

  13. This is a great idea but pretty steep for what it is. I also agree it should have a bunch of different sounds not just rain. I would like to hear like different options as well.

  14. Ive never used an white noise machine, but I always have to sleep with my fan on for the noise lol!! I definitely think there should be more sound options. I like that this is so small though! And all your ideas about when you can use white noise to relax Kim!

  15. When I read this blog post title, I thought of the movie "White Noise" and I was like "Kim oh hell no!" 😂😂😂 Only to find out the gadget gives relaxing soothing sounds. I have never used a machine like this. I don't think I either.

  16. Looks cool Kim, but you're right a little bit overpriced or else it would make a great Christmas gift!
