Why You Need An Active Lifestyle Today More Than Ever - Tips To Get Fit

While advancement in technology has made our lives a lot easier, there has been a significant change in our lifestyles today. With more and more tasks being shifted to digital or AI technologies, human beings have reduced their physical activity levels by a huge percentage. This has obviously resulted in increased health issues faced by many people including cardiac health issues, obesity, mental health problems, and more.

It is very important to use our bodies like they should be used and move around more frequently than we do now. As we age, our bodies only become weaker and our health further deteriorates. If you wish to spend your old age comfortably, you need to have an active lifestyle now.

So instead of ordering groceries online, walk down to your nearest departmental store and get your groceries for yourself. Interested in reshaping your lifestyle? We are here to help! So read this blog and follow our lifestyle tips for getting in better shape, physically and mentally.

1. Walk more - Track your daily steps

Walking is one of the most beneficial physical activity as it keeps you active, helps you maintain your weight, and keep a healthy lifestyle. Not only does it help you increase your physical activity, but also regulates your mental health by freeing your mind of stress, and producing feel-good hormones in your body. Furthermore, walking outdoors revitalizes your oxygen levels as you breathe the fresh air from around you.

The best way to develop a walking habit is to get a smart watch or FitBit that helps you track your steps every day. Just make sure you have a good internet connection like Kinetic by Windstream so your watch is updated at all times.

2. Strength Train 3 times a week

Since we have a very sedentary lifestyle, we have a greater tendency to gain fat. Even when we do follow a diet, we tend to lose overall weight and not body fat specifically. In order to lose body fat, you need to eat more protein and strength training at least 3 times a week to gain muscle. Strength training gives you an instant push, increasing your metabolic rate, heart health, mental health, and activity level.

Your body will tone up, giving you that nice look and feel, and the best part is, it is addictive. Once you start weight training, you get hooked on it. So we suggest you get a membership to your nearest gym and instead of experimenting on your own, do it with a certified trainer who can guide you better.

3. Eat your meals in smaller portions

One of the main life-altering habits that go hand in hand with increasing physical activity is maintaining your diet. And while there may be hundreds of diet plans created to lose weight and fat in promised time spans, trust us, when we say this, portion control is the best one. Instead of eliminating certain food groups altogether, we suggest you eat everything but in smaller portions. This way, you will eat well and enjoy all types of foods but in a controlled way.

4. Play a sport on the weekends

Playing a sport you like will boost your feel-good hormones and will have you hooked in no time. If you have a busy routine, you can play on weekends only, whereas if you have free time every day, you can take out time to play regularly. Sports usually involve high-intensity physical activity that raises your cardiac rate and helps you lose weight and get fit and in shape.

5. Get 8 hours of sound sleep

Believe it or not, sleep is the single most life-transforming habit that will improve your health both physically and mentally. When you sleep, your body releases hormones that help you burn fat when you’re resting. These hormones work best between 10 pm and 2 am. So if you’re asleep then, your body will capitalize on it and get benefit from your body’s natural process. But if you’re awake and active when you should be sleeping, not only will you lose your chance to burn fat, but will stay lazy all through the next day.

This will leave you lethargic, and you might want to skip exercise, leading you back into a loop of lazy and sleepy body and mind.

Ending Note

So in order to keep yourself healthy, fit, and mentally well, you should increase your daily physical activity, and spend at least an hour each day either walking, working out, playing a sport, or at the gym. And don’t forget to eat healthy food in smaller portions so you can make the most out of your new lifestyle!
