Covergirl Clean Matte Collection Review & Giveaway

Sponsored: A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from a young lady at a PR group. She stated they really liked my weekly Snapchat Stories posts. That made me feel good, because those posts are truly a labor of love. HaHaHa But I do them because they're informative to me & others! So see! When you don't think anyone is reading your blog...people are READING your blog! I was asked if I would like to try Covergirl's Clean Matte Collection (which has new packaging). I looked at Covergirl's website and noticed the products said "FOR OILY SKIN". I let her know, I have DRY SKIN and didn't think these would work for me. She responded by saying, "although recommended for oily skin, the COVERGIRL CLEAN MATTE BB Cream works for ALL skin types and just fights against the extra shine for those who do have oily skin." So I told her to send me the collection, I would try them and give my thoughts.

Covergirl Clean Matte 560 Classic Tan Liquid Makeup - Sweet

I'm just realizing I never told the PR Company what shade to send me. LOL So I want to give a BIG shout-out to the person that picked this shade for me. Look at my hand (click on the picture of my hand below to make it larger)! Is that a close match or what!?! Perfect! I haven't tried a Covergirl foundation in YEARS! The last Covergirl products I purchased, were from their Star Wars Collection (2015). Remember my Princess Leia costume? Well this liquid foundation, surprisingly worked well for me! If you click on my picture below (to make it larger), you'll see that this foundation blended really well with my skin. Despite it being formulated for oily skin types, my skin never felt dry. As a matter of fact, my skin had a little glow to it. I wore this all day Saturday, while I was doing home chores & cleaning. It really did a great job at controlling oil. No matter how I perspired or being in & out of the New Orleans humidity, this foundation held up well. It wasn't until around 3pm that it started dissipating. I have NO CONCEALER on in the picture below! I consider this foundation to be lightweight to medium coverage. It's creamy. It's not heavy. It's very silky. You have to apply quickly, because it doesn't linger on the skin. I tried it with a beautyblender, but the beautyblender absorbed too much product. So I used my fingertips to apply the foundation instead. You know how skeptical I can be, so overall I thought this foundation was really good. It surprised me. As far as the packaging, I wish it had a pump. When you have to pour, either too much product comes out or it gets messy.

Covergirl Clean Matte 540 Medium BB Cream

Sweet (Oily Skin) Bittersweet (Other Skin Types) Not Sweet (Dry Skin)

The BB Cream has a different consistency. It's thicker. It's more powdery. It seems to give more coverage than the liquid foundation above. I have dry skin, so this showed up my imperfections (lines etc.). So I won't count that against my rating (if you have dry skin or lots of imperfections I wouldn't get this because it will show them up), so please consider your skin type & skin condition. This probably would work better on someone with Oily Skin. The coverage was pretty decent, but as you can see from my picture you will need a concealer. Just as the liquid foundation, this did a great job controlling oil. I'm use to BB Creams being a little more lightweight, so if you have oily skin and need a BB cream that gives more coverage ... this is for you.

Covergirl Clean 565 Tawny Matte Pressed Powder - Sweet

This shade of pressed powder was a little dark for me LOL, so I decided to use it as a bronzer. The formula is really good. It's lightweight. It covers well. It definitely controls any oil on your face, without making it look cake-y or powdery. I really love the packaging. You have this blue compact encased in plastic, with a working mirror and they give you a powder puff. Very sleek. Very chic.

Covergirl The Supersizer Fibers Mascara in Brown - Bittersweet

This is NEW! I tried the Super Sizer Mascara from the Star Wars Collection and thought it was ok. I feel the same way about this mascara (despite it's claims about 400% more lashes). There was some lengthening. There was some volume. But it seemed to clump my lashes together. The wand is really nice, because you can really get both your upper & lower lashes. It's just an ok mascara to me. If you look at their website, this got great reviews. But there were some that felt the way I did. I can only give my opinion.

A Covergirl Clean Matte Giveaway For You!

The PR agency sent me some extra products (pictured below)! So I thought a giveaway would be nice. The shades are medium & medium/light. Very universal. If these don't match your skin tone, I still encourage you to enter. Think of others! There may be a family member, co-worker, neighbor or someone you can give these to (it would make them very happy). Another option would be to donate these products to your local women's shelter. It's a good deed, that's needed and would be appreciated. This giveaway is open WORLDWIDE. Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter.

  1. Awesome you got to try them and get some for a giveaway Kim! It's great the foundation has staying power, I wonder if the BB cream would too? I find BB creams for oily skin tend not to clog my pores and work better than the regular ones. And oil control is always good in our humid summers! I'll keep an eye out for these next time I'm in store :)

  3. I haven't used Cover Girl in years either. This is great that the foundations are for all skin types. Mascaras have always been tricky for me since I am quite finicky wanting light but full coverage with no clumping.

  4. I was at a drugstore awhile back and saw this CG Clean line and was curious. CG is one of my fave drugstore makeup brands, and I have oily skin so this line sounds like right up my alley:) Thanks for the honest review as always. And wow on the match on that foundation, Kim!

  5. It's too bad the mascara and BB did't work out, but the foundation sounds great. Anything that can last in humid summer weather is awesome!

  6. I have combo skin so I might need to try some of these face products. I'm not a huge fan of fiber mascara and removing it freaks me out every time haha. I have that mascara and it's not bad but I have others I love more.

  7. I've only tried one foundation from CoverGirl and it was surprisingly good so it's good to know that you had great experience with the Clean Matte foundation too. Shame about the BB cream, I can actually see it sits funny on your skin in the picture.

  8. I used Covergirl foundation for a long time, but there were two things that eventually made me veer away from it. First was the scent - I have found that their products, particularly the ones in the US, where I usually bought mine, smell a lot like pine cleaner. I could live with that, but the lack of pump or other dispenser cap on the top of the bottle was a deal breaker for me. I was always pouring out way too much product, which was just a waste. And it's a shame, because the formulas are great, but they need to rethink their packaging, I think. Great post Kim!

  9. Oh Kim plenty of people read your blog and as someone who doesn't have a clue about Snapchat I love your Snapchat Stories. They are so informative! They did a really good job choosing that foundation shade for you and it's good to know that formulation actually works well for dry skin and stands up to heat/humidity. You are so sweet to always spread the love :)

  10. I picked up the BB Cream and put it back but I really want to try all of the face products now! If the BB cream has better coverage than the foundation I would probably like that more. Thanks for your honest thoughts Kim!

  11. I've been so curious about these! At first I wasn't interested in the BB cream but now that I see it has a little more coverage than the foundation I want to try them both! I'm glad the foundation is nice, and I've been so excited to hear your thoughts on these Kim! I went to pick up the foundation yesterday but my Ulta didn't have it so I got the Loreal pro glow instead LOL! That's too bad you don't care much for the mascara. I haven't tried the fibers one. I love the original formula bit lately it's been bothering my eyes a bit! Thanks for the giveaway Kim!

  12. I'm glad the Clean matte liquid is a good one to get. I used the clean liquid foundation in college, and it was pretty good too. I'm sure this one's even better now! I have one of the Supersizer mascaras, but I still need to try it.

  13. Wow there's a huge difference between the foundation and the BB cream! You made amazing swatches using the light. Of course we read your posts, honestly I wouldn't know how to put together a snapchat favourites post lol, but I love reading yours! After you started the series I even tried to snapchat a bit myself but it gets me crazy. Back to your review, of the whole line I would try only the foundation. Tons of love! 14. That's awesome, girlie, I LOVE your snapchat stories, especially since I don't have snapchat, so I can still get it on some of the beauty action :) Thank you! I haven't used Covergirl face products in years, I'm talking since high school! I used to use their pressed powder and loved it, but my skin has changed and become even more sensitive since then, which is why I had stopped. I'm noticing that us oily skinned girls are getting a lot of love these days from companies because it used to be SO hard to find formulas that didn't make me look like I ran a marathon, haha! Whoever chose the foundation shade for you is genius for being able to do it having not seen you in person, I'm impressed! I love how you rated the BB Cream for each skin type, VERY helpful! Yet another excellent review! I know I tell you this often, but you are honestly one of my go-to sources for all things beauty :) Thank so much for sharing, gorgeous, and I hope you're having the best week so far!

  18. What a wonderful day that must have been for you to receive the e-mail. It's so true, I find that when I feel that I'm about to quit with blogging entirely, a special person sends me an uplifting message to let me know that someone out there is reading. I don't use Snapchat, so it's always great to read and view your snippets here. I'm not a Cover Girl user, but it seems like a fairly decent brand with all the goodies that you have shared here. Thanks! Enjoy the week. /Madison

  19. The liquid foundation sounds good but bb cream is really not for dry skin. PR should ask the shade before sending products.

  21. It does feel good to know people are reading cos its WORK! She sure picked the perfect shade for you. I don't remember ever wearing cover girl buy it does look like it has great coverage and being a makeup lover i may try it. Who knows, I may diss my Nars for good. But yes, a pump bottle would be so much more practical. How are you Kim? Enjoy your weekend.
