Too Faced I Want Kandee Collection Review & Swatches

This week, I will be reviewing the Too Faced I Want Kandee and Peaches & Cream Collection. Let's start with I Want Kandee. I love Kandee Johnson! I enjoy her Snapchat stories. I love her YouTube channel! She exudes POSTIVITY & FUN! I SUPER-LOVED the promotions & parties for this collection! I LOVE the packaging! Do I love the makeup? Let's find out. Look for my Peaches & Cream review Thursday.

The Too Faced I Want Kandee Collection is Bittersweet

Too Faced I Want Kandee Eyeshadow Palette $45

Let me tell you what I LOVE! I love the vintage charm of the chocolate-candy tin packaging! The tin can be reused as a keepsake box. I love Kandee's cartoon caricature on the label. The pictures of assorted chocolate candy, along with the names of the eye shadows on the back of the tin are super cute. I was going to buy this for the tin alone, no matter what the eye shadows looked like. When you open the tin, there's a piece of heavy parchment paper (just as you would find in a box of chocolates). This eye shadow palette has a soft vanilla scent. The eye-shadows are split into three quads! I swatched them accordingly below. I would describe the colors as very wearable and soft. I purchased this palette for 4 things! The cute tin. Butterscotch & Sweet Toffee Eyeshadow. Raspberry Cocoa & Sugar Plum Eyeshadow. Whipped Cream Eyeshadow/Highlighter. I feel everything else in this palette you have! Unless you have none of the other Too Faced palettes. Raspberry Cocoa & Sugarplum are gorgeous together (I'm wearing them in my pictures below). I didn't have any problems with the mattes, but I experienced a lot of fall out with Sugarplum during application. So I had to brush away excess from underneath my eyes. At the bottom of the palette, there are 3 light shades. The only one I liked was Whipped Cream. It creates a wonderful GLOW. You can use it as a highlighter or on the inner corners of the eyes. It's very beautiful. I wasn't that fond of Banana Cream (yellowish shade) or Ice Cream (white). I kind of wish, blushes were in these sections instead. Kandee mentioned you can use Banana Cream and Ice Cream as mixers (to lighten eyeshadows), but it didn't work for me. There's also no mirror with this palette! Do you need this palette? No. I'm a makeup collector. And even though I haven't purchased something just for the packaging in a really long time, I wanted this tin. It has a chocolate theme that is going to work well in my makeup room. If there are several colors you like, then get it. If you want the packaging, get it. But I bet you have most of these colors in your collection.

Too Faced I Want Kandee Candy Glow $30

Candy Glow is a highlighter. It's a BEAUTIFUL/GORGEOUS pinkish lilac highlighter when swatched. I was ready to give it a supersweet rating! The problem is when you blend it out, you start to see sparkly glittery particles and less highlight! I applied this to the bridge of my nose & cheeks (see my pics below). It's too sparkly and came across as a sweaty glow-y mess. LOL Maybe if you apply and don't blend, that would help. I thought the problem was just me, but Emily Noel (video below) mentions pretty much the same thing in her review. You're left with just SPARKLES on your face. I like to glow, but sparkle other than on my eyes just doesn't work for me; and I have DRY SKIN. HaHaHa

Too Faced I Want Kandee Melted Matte in Freshly Baked $21

The only other Too Faced Melted Matte color I have is their Candy Cane one, that came out last Christmas. I had to go back and try it on again. They're both very matte (but Candy Cane doesn't feel as drying). So I kept asking myself why did I like Candy Cane and not this one? I think it's because of the color. Candy Cane is a dark shade, so it didn't emphasize the lines in my lips as Freshly Baked. I'm not going to throw Freshly Baked away. I think I will use a pink gloss or liquid lipstick over it. FYI, If you really don't like mattes, don't get Too Faced Melted Mattes. Too Faced just came out with a Melted Matte Gingerbread! I WILL be getting that one! Have you seen the packaging? Cute! They say it smells like Gingerbread :) My Too Faced Candy Cane Melted Matte STILL smells like chocolate & candy cane.

Too Faced I Want Kandee Banana Pudding $30

I hate to be a Debbie Downer today, but SOMEBODY left the bananas out of my Banana Pudding! I barely smell anything! LOL So disappointed! This yellow powder has purple, green, orange and yellow specks. It's suppose to BRIGHTEN, give you a Photoshopped finish, and locks & sets makeup. To me, it's just a face powder. Nothing more or less. It sets your makeup, but I didn't experience any brightening, color-correcting etc. LOL Cute concept, but it didn't work for me.

My Final Look & Thoughts! The winner out of this collection in my book is the eye shadow palette. But even it has a few hits & many misses. Candy Glow gave me more sparkle (or shall I say shine) than the glow I was looking for. Freshly Baked just emphasized my lip lines. There is an eyeliner with this collection, but I didn't think it would work for me. Again, I didn't expect much from this collection. I only wanted the eye shadow palette tin (which I'm still glad I purchased because I now have several new eye shadows I love), but was curious about the other items. I've included Roxette Arisa and Emily Noel's YouTube reviews below. Too Faced also collected food donations for the hurricane relief in Texas and Kandee Johnson met with her fans at an ULTA in Garland, TX. Kandee is really cool and is always so genuine. Have you tried this collection? What have you been hearing?

  2. Not being a Debbie Downer at all! Thanks for the honest review, Kim:) For the price, these really could've been better. Too bad the products are stellar, but man, the packaging does look pretty awesome!

  3. Oh it's such a shame these products didn't work for you Kim - but it's good you do love a few colours in the palette and I agree I kinda want it just for the packaging alone and I don't even collect makeup, haha! :)

Hope you had a great weekend! :)

  5. The promotions and events for this collection were unreal - but I sometimes find that a collection that is so heavily marketed tends to disappoint, whether it's because there is so much build-up for it or because the brand knows it isn't their best, which leads them to market accordingly. Either way, I didn't love what I saw of the actual products when I got past all of the marketing and it sounds like my instinct was right, which is a shame. The packaging is adorable, though!

  6. I didn't realize that the packaging for the eyeshadow palette was tin. I haven't been interested in this collection because I can't get it in Canada. http://www.mrsqbeauty.com

  8. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts Kim! While the packaging is super cute, nothing really grabs my attention. The palette like you said looks like colors I have in every other Too Faced palette. While the lip color is pretty, I think GingerBread is more my speed too when it comes to colors! The looks you created are really pretty!

  9. I used to watch Kandee and she's one of the bubbliest person that I have ever seen and I love her positive attitude! And thank you for the honest review, Kim! I personally feel too Faced is guilty of churning out too many collabs and products and their quality is suffering.

  10. The packaging is adorable. That is too bad these were not all a win.

  11. The packaging looks so cute, but I feel everything is the same nude shadows I have seen over and over again, just with new packaging. I don't think I would pick up anything from this collection. Not that its available here lol

  12. This whole collection is so fun and girly to me! I am dying to smell and swatch some of these things. I don't have an Ulta close by or else I would have already been there. The palette shades are gorgeous and all colors that I could see myself wearing. I love Kandee and her sweet personality! XO

  13. I feel like Two Faced is slowly losing cred, they've been coming out with palettes with similar colors over and over, but I still love Kandee!
    Great review! ♡

  14. I've been wanting the banana powder so bad. Don't need the smell haha but I wonder if it would brighten on my skin tone or it's the same on everyone. Everything else looks really nice but the banana powder is what I wanted most.

  15. Gosh Kim the retro style chocolate-candy tin packaging is all sorts of adorable and a collector's item for sure! The shades in the palette all look really pretty and wearable too. I'm not really surprised there were some hits and misses in your purchases because that seems to be the case with most makeup collabs these days. The Banana Pudding sounded so promising too.

  16. I was be so sad if my powder didn't smell like banana pudding too haha! The shadow palette is pretty I think! But you're right that I have so many similar shades in my collection. I do love the packaging though! That's a shame about the highlighter, it looks so pretty swatched! Too bad it didn't stay like that after being blended. The lip color looks pretty on you, Kim!

  17. You're right about the packaging, absolutely GORGEOUS - as always with Too Faced! I would feel 100% the same way about the Banana Pudding; if there's going to be a banana scent, make it strooooong haha.

  18. Awww too bad it was bittersweet, specially considering that cute packaging.

  19. The packaging is so adorable. It is such a pity that this collection is bittersweet. The palette does not have outstanding eyeshadow shades and it all looks a bit ashy in the pans. I laughing when you said SOMEBODY left the bananas out of the banana pudding powder. 😂😂😂 You crack me up, Kim!
