Models Own Tea Tree Healer Concealer Review

Sponsored: I was sent Models Own Tea Tree Healer Concealer ($8.99 at ULTA) for review. I've been testing this concealer for several weeks now and I'm ready to give you the pros and cons. When you use concealer, you want to cover up something. It might be dark areas, a blemish, tattoo or a number of other things. This concealer promises to both CONCEAL & FIGHT BLEMISHES at the same time. It's a wonderful concept, but does it work? It does neither effectively! Let me first tell you what I like about this concealer! It comes in a tube and has a wonderful applicator for applying the product. You can smell the tea tree oil (it smells fresh), so you know it's there. Now, let me tell you what I don't like about this concealer! It only comes in FOUR (4) shades! This is the darkest shade. This shade worked for me, but what about darker skin tones? When you first apply this concealer, it looks pretty thick (see my hand swatch below), BUT as you blend ... it spreads out! When it spreads out, you lose a lot of coverage. So I tried adding more concealer to my face, but it kept thinning out. Why is this happening? My thoughts are, the tea tree OIL is breaking down the actual CONCEALER. I could be wrong (my background is science), but I use cleansing oil to break down my makeup. Concealer is makeup. Another issue is will it get rid of the blemish? I had one and it got rid of it in the SAME AMOUNT OF TIME as using regular tea tree oil on its own. It took several days. Also, do you want to use tea tree oil under your eyes, etc? It will dry skin out! There is somewhat a silver-lining. If you don't need a lot of coverage, this concealer should work for you. If you need a lot of coverage (like moi), you can use this concealer FIRST, and THEN APPLY your regular concealer on top of this one. That way you can heal and get the coverage you need. Have you tried Models Own? I'm new to the brand. I'm hosting a Models Own Celestial Collection Giveaway on Instagram. This giveaway ends this week, so be sure to enter.

  1. tea tree reminds me soooooo much of school because i went through a mad stage of only buying tea tree products for my skin. read in a magazine once it helped spots so went very overboard on their products haha!

  2. Interesting concept and interesting thoughts! Even though I have days where I don't have a lot to conceal, I don't think I will try it! Lovely review, though :)

  3. Tea tree oil is one of those products that comes in and out of style - after years of not seeing in much of anything, it is suddenly popping up everywhere again! Unlike everyone else in the world, I get breakouts and rashes when I use it, so I try to stay away from products that contain it. Sounds like I wouldn't be missing much with this concealer...!

  4. I've heard of this brand before, Kim, but have never tried anything. I do need heavy coverage though, both for foundation and concealer, so I don't know if this would work for me. And why only 4 shades? Sigh...thanks for the honest review. XOXO

  6. Tea tree oil is wonderful for treating spots but it sounds like something is off in this formulation which makes it not work so well as a concealer. I think you're onto ton something that the oil is breaking down the concealer Kim.

  7. Interesting. Tea tree oil does seem like an odd ingredient for a concealer. I do love its fragrance though. :)

  8. Speaking as someone who needs serious coverage under my eyes (those late nights, haha), this probably wouldn't be my first choice. Though as always, huuuugely grateful for your honest and thorough reviews Kim!!

  9. Sometimes when a product offers to do several things I have doubts... here it seems like its the case. Too bad.

  10. Ooh your thoughts were interesting that the tea tree oil is breaking down the concealer. I actually would never have thought of that. It makes a lot of sense. It is a good concept though. Pity they couldn't get the formula right. I LOVE that your reviews are always honest even if it is a sponsored post. That is why you are always the best in my bloggersphere Kim. 😁💗

  11. This sounds kind of weird and gimmicky, unless you need light coverage like you said! I can see how the oil would break it down a bit and make the coverage less. I use tea tree oil every night on my face, but I don't think it's something I'd want in my makeup! Thanks for your thoughts kim! I haven't tried anything from this brand before!

  12. Sorry this didn't work out quite as you hoped. I am not a fan of the tea tree oil scent so I would prob skip on that alone.

  13. Too bad about it braking down and I don't think I would use it under my eye either. Its already too dry to add drying products there x

  14. The concept of this sounded great and it's a shame that it had these issues. Your point about the tea tree oil potentially breaking down the makeup makes sense, and I'm not sure how comfortable I am using tea tree oil in my eye area. Thanks for the great review!

  16. No doubt I love the idea of this concealer for blemishes, though definitely not for under the eyes, but shame it didn't give the coverage in the end as needed, hopefully they'll find a solution and reformulate it! x
