Butter London Bronzer Clutch Review and Swatches

When I picked up LORAC's Take Me To TANtego bronzer palette at ULTA, Butter London's Bronzer Clutch ($39) also caught my eye (still available at ULTA and Butter London). Now, let me say this! I LOVE Butter London's nail polishes! They're one of my favorites. But I've had bad luck with Butter London's makeup. So even though this caught my eye, I swatched it in the store. Everything looked really pretty, so I purchased it and took it home with me. This hard-cased (that fits in the palm of your hand) bronzer clutch, contains THREE bronzers (L-R): SUN KISSED (golden bronzer shimmer), SUN BAKED (matte bronzer), and SUN SHADOW (matte contour). This set also contains an On The Glow Pen in Gold. As you can see from the swatches on my hand, all the shades are very beautiful. I love browns, gold and copper shades. Initially, I thought the matte contour (Sun Shadow) would be too light for me to contour with, but it worked out fine.  I used Sun Baked (matte bronzer) on my cheeks and Sun Kissed (golden bronzer shimmer) down the bridge of my nose and atop my cheek bones as a highlighter. I used the gold On The Glow Pen in the corners of my eyes. All three create a very bronzed & dewy look. In my picture below, I would make a few changes. I used L'Oreal's Infallible Pro Glow Foundation. This bronzing palette already gives you a dewy finish, so I would use more of a matte foundation (L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte). Also, I'm bronzed from my cheeks to my forehead in that picture. LOL My chin is much lighter. I would definitely bronze more in that area. Bronzing is tricky to me! You don't want to over bronze, but sometimes you can miss a few areas. Well, I guess that's what blogging and practicing is all about! Learning from your mistakes and getting help from others. So I just need to work out some quirks with the application of this. But the quality is really nice. Is your bronzer makeup application on point or are you still working on it? I'm wearing MAC Liptensity Lipstick in Toast & Butter. One more bronzer review Monday :)

  2. Even though those shades are way too dark for my skin tone, I love the idea of a bronzer, a bronzer toper and a contour powder (and highlighter pen) reunited in a clutch and I love the finished look on your skin, the difference between the face and the neck didn't shock me at all :)

  3. I am faithful to my The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzer so far, never felt the need to venture outside. But I have hit pan and might try a few others soon.

  4. They are beautiful shades Kim - glad this worked out for you despite you not having a lot of success with their makeup in the past! :)

You're so much better with bronzer than I - blush is hard enough for me to get right sometimes, ha! I don't do bronzer!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend Kim :)

  5. I don't use bronzer at all because my skin is very fair. But Butter London's bronzer look great. It looks matte and not too shiny.

  6. I never even knew Butter London has makeup too! That's good to know. Thanks for the heads up, Kim. This palette looks great and judging from the pic, I really think your bronzing is on point! You look so good:) I don't really wear bronzers too much coz being Filipino, I'm kinda tanned already, but when I do, I just always use either a MAC one or the one from the Kevyn Aucoin palette.

  7. You are so brave to try more products from a brand that you were previously disappointed. These are really beautiful shades, bronzer is a product I use daily and I love the healthy glow and radiance it gives to my skin! x

  8. This looks really pretty Kim! I do not have the confidence to try bronzer. I would probably look like some sort of clown if I tried. LOL

  9. I'm really glad to hear this set worked for you, Kim - it does give a beautiful effect in photos! I've had a number of bad luck products from Butter London, so I'm always hesitant to purchase from them again, but I always love their packaging - it's just gorgeous.

  11. Yay for finally finding a Butter London makeup product that works for you Kim. I'm still a new to bronzing and learning how to create a natural look but I do love that I can combine it with a dewy finish. You look fab babe!
