Wellness Resolutions for the New Year

Wellness is one of those things that we hear people talk about, or we read about online, without ever really knowing what it means. That’s primarily because wellness is a personal concept. It doesn’t mean the same to all of us, and it doesn’t even mean the same every day. Sometimes, practicing wellness is about getting through a stressful time. That’s all that you can focus on, and it’s all that needs to be done. On other occasions, wellness for you might mean making more time to do the things that you love. Put simply; wellness is taking care of yourself and sometimes putting your own needs first.

Whether you want to use the word or not, practicing wellness is empowering. It can lead to a happier, healthier life. So, why not make some of these wellness resolutions this New Year.

Get to Know Yourself

To know what wellness means to you, you need to get to know yourself. You need to understand how your body and mind respond to stress, how you feel after a good night's sleep, how exercise affects you, and what you need when you feel low. When it comes to tackling when we are feeling low and still doing what we need to do, we have more options than ever before. You can find teas and supplements like ones that have the best terpenes or other mood and energy enhancers. You also might like to look into if you have deficiencies that might leave you feeling like you don’t have enough energy to get everything you need to do.

We all have different ways to cope and different things that make us feel better. Get to know yourself by paying more attention to how you are feeling, physically and emotionally. You might find that keeping a journal or diary helps you to spot patterns.

Deal with Any Big Issues
Is there anything significant holding you back from happiness, or challenging your mental health? Could trauma intensive therapy help? Would you like to see someone to talk about your issues? Is your job making you unhappy? Are there problems in your relationship or financial situation? Ask yourself what is stopping you from being happy, and make plans for change.

Meditate

Meditation can be excellent. It can help you to clear your mind, unwind and destress. It could help you to cope with stress, find solutions to problems and get a better night’s sleep. Even meditating for a few minutes every day can make a big difference.

Try Yoga
Yoga can also help to improve your health and fitness, as well as giving you a confidence and mood boost and a way to take time out to do something for yourself every day. Even a quick morning yoga routine can be effective. You’ll feel better just for getting on the matt and doing something for yourself.

Drink Less Alcohol
Alcohol increases stress and harms our mood. If you are down, alcohol will only ever make it worse. Try to have a few days a week when you don’t drink any alcohol at all, and you’ll soon start to feel healthier.

Go for Walks
A short walk after dinner can help you to maintain a healthy weight, boost your fitness levels and strength, aid your digestion, help you to sleep, and give you a little time to yourself away from the stresses of home life.

Make Plans with Friends
Seeing your friends is one of the best things that you can do for your mental health. Book trips, tickets to events and shows and tables at restaurants so that you are more likely to follow through with plans.
