Four Reasons Your Back Is Hurting

When it comes to your back, you need it to be as strong as possible as it’s what is keeping you upright. Your back supports you and your organs, and you need it to feel healthy and supple as much as possible. It’s hard enough to get older and feel pain just getting out of bed, never mind with additional pain on top of that.

There are options for chiropractic care out there, but you should think about why your back is hurting in the first place - this will help you to determine how to make it feel better. Below, we’ve got four of the most popular reasons your back is hurting you.

  • You are sitting down all day. We work in a world where we sit a lot, we sit in the car, we sit at work, we lounge on the couch in front of the TV, and we sit on the floor and during exercise, too. The problem with doing this is that the lack of activity can make our backs stiff and full of tension. It can also lead to suffering from nagging pain that really doesn’t feel very good. Plan to exercise and make a point of walking around your desk or up-and-down your house or office through the day.
  • You are eating too much. We all know that eating too much is bad for our health, but it can really be bad for the health of our backs. When we are eating the wrong foods we are depriving our bodies of the nutrients that are needed to stay healthy. Stick to a healthy and well balanced diet and stay away from junk food, and you will keep your weight down and your spine relaxed.
  • You are not sleeping well. When you are sleeping in the wrong position, you’re going to find yourself waking up with a feeling of pain and aching throughout your joints and your spine in the morning. You can’t always stop yourself from sleeping in a strange position, particularly if you roll over into that position during the night, but it can help to lie on your side instead of your back and it will help you to keep a pillow between your knees. This will reduce pressure from the spine and alleviate some of those aches and pains that you feel in the morning.
  • You are getting older. Unfortunately, getting older comes with the sunset of aches and pains. We are very fortunate and privileged to have the ability to age, and while you may hate the way it makes your back and your joints feel you may love the fact that you get to get there. As long as you are stretching and exercising regularly, you’ll be able to maintain your activity and remain as active as possible.
