WONKA | First Look Official Trailer

All Media Photos And Official Trailer provided by Warner Bros. Pictures

Not Sponsored: A couple of days ago I was on Twitter and there was chatter regarding the official trailer of WONKA to be released soon. I also noticed there was a new movie poster. So I posted it on my Twitter page. I have been so excited about this movie. "The anticipation [was] killing me." I'm going to be honest, I love Gene Wilder's version. I wasn't even born yet, when Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory came out in 1971. But I remember being a little girl, and watching the movie whenever it came on cable, during my Summer months off. It was so whimsical and magical.

I had high anticipation for when Johnny Depp played Willy Wonka. I rushed to the movies to see it, welcomed the opening of the movie with great enthusiasm and then it all came crashing down for me. I love Johnny Depp, but his voice irritated me, his glasses, the wig and many of the beloved characters I enjoyed in the first movie seemed "too much" and "highly exaggerated" in that version to me. The Tim Burton version seemed to go way overboard.

So, when I heard that there was going to be another production of Willy Wonka, I crossed my fingers, heart etc. that someone would get it right [at least to me ha ha ha] this time. Pictures of Timothee Chalamet in costume were released. I said to myself, yes ... someone has gotten it right. I compare this situation to the movie Batman Begins (2005). We all know Batman is a comic book, but when they made Batman Begins with Christian Bale, the movie overall seemed more adult, serious and polished. That's the way I feel about this new Wonka movie.

I just viewed the trailer (see YouTube video below). I looked at it three times. They got Timothee's clothes and overall look right (costume). The various sets for this movie are absolutely gorgeous. I predict, there will be a Wonka theme ride and an explosion of marketing (maybe not as much as the Barbie movie). I love the choreography and dancing in the movie. The supporting cast is great. I particularly love Jim Carter (from Downton Abbey) and Calah Lane. She is so precious. I find it to be a very magical and whimsical movie, befitting of its near Christmas opening December 15th, 2023. I'm sure more trailers will be released in time. I think Timothee's acting will meet people's expectations. I need to see more to see if his depth and heart are truly into this character. I could pick it up in some moments, but not all. This is only a glimpse. I'm not a movie critic. I'm just sharing my personal thoughts, as I love this story and character. The comments on YouTube for the trailer are majority positive.

"Every good thing in this world, started with a DREAM. So you hold onto yours."
